Vintage Heart
she counted her heartbeats
were any missing
were they spaced correctly
had she left any struggling
lagging behind
l o s t
broken pieces of her heart
used/abused/refused-love pieces
and then one day
she found a nearly-new heart online
unused-sort of
still in it’s original wrapping
vintage
t e c h n i c a l l y
refurbished (used once circa 1975)
d e s t r o y e d
took decades to rebuild/remodel
r e c o n s t r u c t
they don’t make them like that anymore, she mused
true-blue too
is it mine for keeps she wondered
how could this delightful heart have gone
u n a t t a c h e d for so long?
she counted her heart beats again
then aligned them with her
new-found-heart-mate
in sync
dancing
stronger as two
overflowing with love
