It’s so wonderful for me to be able to share D. L. Finn’s first book of poetry! As you know, I have three books of poetry and have always loved to read the works of others. So let’s all support the wonderful poems of an excellent writer and fellow Rave Review Book Club member, D. L. Finn
FINN FACTS:
- I love to surround myself with laughter, love, and nature. It counters some of the negativity in this world.
- I was amazed when a hummingbird landed on my finger as a young girl. I still feel a connection to hummingbirds.
Blurb:
Take a journey with D.L. Finn as she blends her love of nature with her deepest emotions. Sit with her on the forest floor observing its tranquil beautyor stroll along the ocean’s shore admiring the vastness of its horizon. Here in these peaceful moments you’ll be able to experience her thoughts and feelings in the light—and in the darkness. This is a thought-provoking collection of poetry that invites the reader into all the seasons of a soul.
Excerpt from NATURE: Fall and Winter:
GLOW
The forest is aglow with fall.
The reds, pinks, and golds overtaking green.
It blends together under the blue sky.
While sun’s rays accentuate the creation.
The dogwoods, ash, and cottonwood trees
Demand attention to their beauty…
In a glittery fall flash.
Before brown, gray, and white winter
Takeover in an icy-chilling clench.
It is a time of beauty…
A time of change…
A time to prepare…
A time to walk amongst this glow.
To know it’s the end of growing season
When life bursts through a cold spring ground.
Now it’s a firework of leaves brightly blazing.
But before they disappear you can’t help being that kid
Who kicks the pile of leaves or picks up a red leaf.
During the last eruption of fall’s glow.

D.L. Finn is an independent California local who encourages everyone to embrace their inner child. She was born and raised in the foggy Bay Area, but in 1990 relocated with her husband, kids, dogs, and cats to the Sierra foothills in Nevada City, CA. She immersed herself in reading all types of books, but especially loved romance, horror, and fantasy. She always treasured creating her own reality on paper. Finally, being surrounded by towering pines, oaks, and cedars, her creativity was nurtured until it bloomed. Her creations vary from children’s books, young adult fantasy, and adult paranormal romance to an autobiography with poetry. She continues on her adventures with an open invitation for her readers to join her.

Your Hummingbird encounter reminded me of the movie “Ray” about the life of Ray Charles Robinson. He was blind but knew just by sound that a hummingbird was hovering just outside the restaurant window where he met his future wife. I was mesmerized. Anyway you have a fantastic tour.
Hi Lynda and nice to see you again. You are a wonderful host.

I so love this poem! It’s colorful, and about one of my favorite seasons! How fun to have a hummingbird use you as a perch 😀 A dragonfly did the same to me years ago. I still think a hummingbird would be way cooler 😀
