Luci has retired from her old life. After retrieving millions of stolen dollars she has taken her daughter and created a life as far removed from her previous one as possible.

Is it love, or lust?

You decide.

Here’s what the readers have to say:

“Target in the Sun” is a compelling story of an unlikely couple and how their fate influenced the fates of those around them. First of all, kudos to the author for telling this story from different perspectives, which allow the reader to better associate and sympathize with the characters, Carlos, Mia, and Lucia.
The idea of telling each personal story in the form of journal entries and emails works really well in this sense, and I personally loved reading the “firsthand account” of Carlos growing up in a Mexican village with drug cartels, murders, corruption and poverty being a typical lifestyle. Certain aspects of Carlos’s experiences, such as loss of his parents at an early age, becoming a drug mule for his family and witnessing the appalling conditions in which children have to grow in his country, were difficult to read, but that’s because they’re so real and need to be talked about.
Also, what I really appreciated was that Carlos didn’t allow his soul to harden despite all, and remained a kind-hearted young man who only craved love and companionship, which he was lucky to find in Mia. I won’t give away the plot, but trust me, it’s a great and very important read.” Amazon Customer

“I was taken away with all the pain and suffering that little Carlos endured throughout this tragic story. When he met Mia I hoped for a breath of fresh air for him. And although she was there was so much more to the story. An unorthodox love tale, a riveting reeling lifestyle. They say that as we live we are responsible for the choices we make, but clearly, there are some things that are out of our hands. Sometimes we are blessed with the people that come into our lives and sometimes we are cursed with the families we are born into.

The Author took it to another level, I was not accustomed to the way she wrote, in the diary style. But as I read, I could not tear myself away from the story. I have so many unanswered questions and I know that I will get them in the next book, I can’t wait to see what else comes out from this story.

This reader will continue on to find the answers…..” M. S.

“Screw the taboo!”

An older woman/younger man, a conscious theme through my fictional genre, is it still a taboo? And how much older is an acceptable age difference in 2018?

1- I found this on the subject in 2017:

“As one of the leading dating sites for mature singles in Australia, there’s no shortage of older women dating younger men on EliteSingles. Our users’ profiles are manually verified by our customer service team so that we can ensure our members are serious about using our premium service to look for long-lasting love. That means our site is an ideal tool for finding a serious romance with a younger partner safely and securely.”

3- By 1989 we’d moved on to this:

From Lie To Me an exposé on sex for money

Layla Duncan–a forty-something writer–has an insatiable curiosity about Mexico’s other tourism, men who sell steamy sexual encounters to vacationing women in Puerto Vallarta. She infiltrates the organized underworld of male prostitution, interviews several men and writes an exposé of their lives. The lines between Layla’s personal life and professional assignment quickly become blurred, and she finds herself questioning her value system in an exciting yet disturbing way.

Quote from the book

Twenty-year-old Mateo:

He was a ghost. He had no past that he could cling to, a present full of lies, and a future filled with despair. Unless he made changes.

“I’m confused. I’ve never been involved with someone before. I never allowed myself to care before. You are like this wild card that has come into my life. I didn’t ask for you, I didn’t want to fall in love with you. But I think that’s what I feel for you.”

What are your secrets? Layla wondered. Is it pain, or deceit you’re running from; or are you running from yourself?

“Layla, you are so grown up and yet, such a little girl. Don’t you know there are bad men out there? They will set you up, charm you, steal your heart, then take everything else you have to offer. You should go home, little girl, back to Colorado where you belong.” Mateo sighed.

Layla saw a man who lived with wolves in the forest.
Would he ever belong to her?
Mateo drifted off to sleep.
Only music lingered.

The Big “O”

girl-woman-portrait-young-115015We tend to think that only men are willing to pay for sex but in the past decade more and more women have been looking for sexual experiences and have been willing to pay for them.

It is easier and more convenient than going to clubs or bars. Often the women do not want to be found out; they want it to be private and kept a secret.

Some career women with high disposable incomes are just too busy for relationships. Others who have had a break-up or painful divorce find it easier to have sex without strings attached.

The thought of trying to date again and meet somebody new is just too difficult for many – but they miss sex. They may want a sexual massage or just to be touched and be intimate with somebody.

One of my clients told me she answered an advertisement in the paper from “James” who offered erotic massages.

She was very lonely after a relationship break-up; she was tired, had gained weight and lost all her confidence.

She didn’t really know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. James was a massage therapist who found some women were desperate to have an erotic massage leading to an orgasm, and in a place where they could talk and feel comfortable. He also offers more if a client asks for that.

My client saw him for months and ended up having sex with him. He was wonderful, she said. He gave her back her confidence and she gained more knowledge about her body.

If God Brings You To It…

Screen Shot 2017-07-12 at 12.05.26 PM

It was one of those days…

I’m over it, barely, but I did lose a good day or two of productive thinking because of it.

We’re all artists, writers, poets, painters, photographers, readers, and imagineers, lovers-of-life, dreamers. And as such we have good and bad days, and some of us have fragile egos.

I sent work off to an editor. I waited excited by a story I needed to tell. In my defense I do have to say that when writing fiction I try to plot. I do. That’s the way my famous author-friends do it. But I have an amazing imagination. I truly live my stories. I go inside the heads of my people. I’m in the forest in Serbia or on a jet over the Atlantic, or blowing up a boat in the Pacific, or parkouring over rooftops in Paris. It’s why I write—to tell stories.

However this is what happens when I plot. I get surprises. Yes, my characters do something I wasn’t prepared for… or a new storyline takes me by surprise. And that’s my challenge…

She said it was a hot mess. Well, those weren’t her words exactly. She sent it back half-edited and told me to get back to work. This is my 12th work to be published. I’m not yet on any best-seller lists, but I have people who love my stories and email me wanting to know when the next JET is coming out. So I pushed through the sadness I felt and I allowed myself to learn from the critique. I accepted the harsh words and vowed to become better and better at telling my stories. I am dedicated to giving my readers the best experience they can possibly have.

But I have to tell you I was devastated. I wanted to take the manuscript and throw it away. Instead I sat down and started reading it and making corrections. And you know something? I LOVE this story. It’s close to my heart. It’s speaks to me. And I hope it will speak to you too.

We should be on Kindle by next weekend if not sooner. JET-Displaced book in my JET Kindle Worlds series.

“If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.”

Why do you do that thing you do?

Screen Shot 2016-08-17 at 10.51.27 AM

What’s your Outlook junk mail file look like? Mine is easily 100 unread messages at a time. I really don’t want to delete them, but there’s so little time. I can’t read it all. Everyone has a message and many of them are amazing and heartfelt and helpful…but time…there simply isn’t enough time.

Do you multi-task? If you’re a woman, you do for sure! I can’t get my nails done without reading a book, or have lunch without checking and responding to Face Book or Twitter. I cook listening to a podcast or motivational You Tube video. That’s how I roll.

I tend to write in sound bites. My blogs are short and sweet and hopefully entertain, inspire or motivate. Or make you smile and laugh, that’s good too. But most of all I respect the time you take to read my post.

The point of this is I came across a great free download in one of my emails. It’s from Liz Dennery Sanders called 101 WaysPowerfulBrand. She’s great by the way http://shebrand.com. Liz offers a succinct 20-page workbook to help you organize your brand, to define who and what you are in your marketplace, who and what you want to be to your customer/consumer/client/reader.

Here’s what I learned about my Why.  In everyone of my fictional works I tackle a social issue, something important to me—something that touches the core of who we are as a society. I fight my battles—literally, in writing—with the JET series, Target in the Sun, Vanished in the Sun and even in LEI Crime World… The titles like Narco Orphans, JET-Abducted, drop clues.

That simple realization about my work was a powerful ah-ha moment. In my own way through my books, I’m tackling war, the sacrifice of the military, human trafficking, cartels, drugs, sex: both good and bad; and with my current wip JET-Displaced, bio-weapons and the world’s refugee crisis.

Do you know why you do that thing you do?

Thank you to my constant readers. I hope those of you who relate, find both entertainment and your very own ‘ah-hah’ moments in my writing.
