We live today tomorrow we die. What’s the meaning of life?

When my younger son was a teenager, he said something to me that has stayed in my mind: We’re here for a good time, not a long time. I think none of us know how many years or days we have to wander this planet, so we should live each day as if it’s our last.

I recently liquidated my life in order to travel. I’ve lived in Mexico for many years and since I started writing professionally, I’ve met people from all over the world. It opened my mind to opportunities to see a world that I’ve only ever read about or observed in film. Nothing prepares you for the real culture of another country, nor the kindness of a countries’ people. You must experience this.

I have a mantra that’s been running through my mind for the last couple of years: We are all one. If the Universe is to survive, it’s not about climate change but about a definite shift in how we see each other and the tolerance we have for each nation and culture around the world.

The birth of the www. gave us an opportunity that no prior generation ever had. It opened the door to the possibility of friendships from all over the world. These friendships forge the way for us to understand that regardless of the color of our skin, the languages we speak, we have a common thread running through our lives: love. We all wake up in the morning, study, grow, form family, have children—or not—worry about our families, careers, putting food on the table, our health and our love. We are all one.

At the end of my life, I know that all that will matter is how much I loved.

Give Unconditional Love is not a Top Ten Rule For Success that I would expect to hear from Warren Buffett. For those of you too young or simply unfamiliar with Mr.Buffett let me share a few things about him. First, he’s from Omaha Nebraska, born, raised and never left. Second, he’s very humble as you will see in this video put together by my friend and mentor Evan Carmichael of #BELIEVE Nation. And third, and what you most likely know about Warren Buffett, he has been on the top or within the top 5 of Forbes List of Billionaires for as long as I can remember.

Top 10 Billionaires in the World

#3: Warren Buffett

Net Worth: $85.1B
Country: United States

Warren Buffett is the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE: BRK.A), a conglomerate which owns more than 60 companies. Geico, Duracell, and Dairy Queen are just a few examples.

Buffett is one of the most successful investors of all time, but he has committed to giving more than 99% of his fortune to charity. In 2010 he and Bill Gates launched The Giving Pledge, which asked billionaires to donate half their wealth to charitable causes.

In the video attached to this list, Mr. Buffett says he was 7 when he started reading the books in his hometown library. By the time he was 11 he had read every book the library had on investing!

Here are his top ten Rules for Success.

  1. FIND YOUR PASSION
  2. HIRE WELL
  3. DON’T CARE WHAT OTHERS THINK
  4. READ, READ, READ
  5. HAVE A MARGIN OF SAFETY
  6. HAVE A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
  7. SCHEDULE FOR YOUR PERSONALITY
  8. ALWAYS BE COMPETING
  9. MODEL SUCCESS
  10. GIVE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

As always, thanks for reading. I learn many new things every day. That’s how I stay motivated and inspired to write and share my voice with the world.

Keep following your dreams. And remember, if you think you can, you can!

What Did You Do That Changed Your Life the Most?

Who is Author Lynda Filler?

I fell in love with a Mexican man who was way younger than me, like over twenty years younger! I gave up my luxurious lifestyle, and high-powered position in Canada, and moved to Mexico to be with him. It was 2002 and without a doubt one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. I will always love him even though we’ve both moved on and found others to love.

I feel he grew up with me and I learned unconditional love with him. Together we healed those parts of us that were lost.

I’m a writer so I won’t say that Target In The Sun (Carlos & Mia Book 1) is our story, but people who know me are certain that most of this “fictional” romantic raunchy mystery book about an older woman and her younger Latino lover is true.

This is what I learned:

  1. If you are only going to live once, do it with #passion!
  2. Always listen to your #heart
  3. Never ever have regrets, #LOVE is everything
  4. Don’t stay in an unhappy marriage because of the kids. Leave that unhappy marriage for the kids
  5. be courageous in love, it will give you moments and memories that will last you for a lifetime
