Can you show us a window to your love?

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-I took the one less traveled byAnd thathas made all the differenceRobert Frost

Oh my. This question gave me shivers.                                                 (on Quora)

There’s a guru on YouTube named Evan Carmichael. He wrote a book called “One Word.” He states that everyone should define their brand or their belief system with one word. His is Belief. Mine is LOVE.

If you open my Amazon book profile, my first three books have LOVE in their title. I use the word constantly. I’m not afraid to tell people I love them. I don’t hold back, ever. I lead from love. It’s my most important value.

The window… yes, that beautiful window. I’ve lived my life following my heart, following love.

As Robert Frost said, “Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

I chose the path of love. And no matter how many twists and turns my life took, how many wins, losses, and disappointments, I wouldn’t change any of it for any reason. I always moved forward from a place of love.

Do you love it?

Have I told you lately how I LOVE my reviewers, and of course, all my readers? It might surprise you to know that I read my reviews and take comments to heart. If you’ve taken the time to tell me how much you loved my book, then I take the time to hear your thoughts.

The average review for Lie to Me is 4.7 stars  When I first started publishing fiction, in the summer of 2015, I had a few trolls. In case you’re wondering what that means, it’s ‘alleged’ readers who come online and leave 1-star reviews, and trash your work. More than likely they haven’t read the story, but for some inexplicable reason, they go from book-to-book and trash an author’s stories. I don’t know if Amazon caught them or what happened, but as quickly as they arrived, they disappeared.

Today a review is honest and heartfelt. So any suggestions I take notice. When you hear something once, it could be an opinion; but twice, and a third time, I pay attention and act on it. The issue at hand was the comment on the cover of Lie To Me an exposé on sex for money.

If you’re unfamiliar with this story, I will drop the review for you:

on June 21, 2018
Lie To Me by Lynda Filler is amazing. This is my first time reading anything by this author. When they say don’t judge a book by its cover, they were talking about this one. I thought the cover looks like a fun and flirty read for the summer, boy was I wrong….it was so much more.
Layla Duncan has found her happiness in Puerta Vallarta. She loves her life and her career. There is just one thing, she has a fetish for hot young men who sell themselves for sex. She decides to write an article for her magazine about these men but get a whole lot more than she bargained for. The subjects of her article become her friends, but one-man Mateo becomes more than just a friend. Can Layla separate her professional life from her personal life? Is Mateo just a fling or is there real feelings involved?
I loved this book it’s a little dark, but a whole lot of sexy. I was pulled in from the very beginning and was sad when it was over. Lynda Filler sure knows how to keep the reader engaged. This was a roller coaster of a ride book. I can’t wait to see what else is out there by this author.
Yesterday I uploaded an updated version. If I was able to contact the reviewer, and two others who brought this to my attention, I would. I guess the point of this blog is to tell you that I write for you!
I hope you like it. I LOVE it! Thanks again for supporting all my work.

It’s most powerful to watch the video.

I loved it. And the ending is so special, don’t miss it.

Follow your passion. Never give up. There is someone out there who needs to hear your artistic “voice.”

This is my gift to you today.

Be a point of light and tell someone you care about that you #LOVE him/her. You may never get a second chance.

Have a light-filled day. And thank you for following my blog.

I LOVE every word out of this man’s mouth.

If you haven’t met Jay Shetty, now is your opportunity. Most entrepreneurs talk about their ten rules of success. What I love about Jay’s message is how he blends the HEAD the HEART and the HAND. It’s not just about the intellectual obvious things of success, but following our life’s purpose and then finding our true purpose in making a difference in peoples lives. So if you’re currently in a rut, if you have achieved a level of success in society’s eyes, but you’re not doing something you love, then there is no heartfelt satisfaction in your accomplishment. And in the final analysis, it’s how we share our hearts with the world that truly gives deep and lasting happiness. When we find our true purpose there is something so deep and personal in the gratification we receive that we know in the deepest part of our being, that we are following our life’s purpose.

HEAD: What you want, the way you pick your path, your clarity of vision

HEART: Understanding your heart and how your heart connects with your vision

HAND: Compassion and care, how we share and pay it forward or give back is where the three things connect and give us true meaning in our lives

When I started to publish my work, poetry was the way I shared my head and my heart. In those days, Myspace was a place for artists where we could connect and share what we felt passionate about. I had so many poems it was easy to look back and connect the dots and realize that each poetry book represented diaries of the life I was living at the time. In 2015 I had an opportunity to connect my vision of what I loved to read and what I wanted to write. So my Heart once again connected with my head and carried me forward. LOVE The Beat Goes On was so much more difficult to write because I laid bare my life, my emotional journey in the hopes it would help others go through their lives. And the payback is in the emails, the FB notes, the complete strangers who reach out and share their pain and how my memoir helped them realize they are not alone. The Hand.

So as difficult as it is to make it as an independent author in a sea of millions of others writing stories, I persevere and nothing can take me off my path. I write to share my vision of the world–as crazy and raunchy as it sometimes gets. I write to entertain, to surprise and sometimes shock because that’s the way of the world. And when my own books have moments of clarity of purpose, insights I never saw coming, I know I’ve found my life’s purpose.

My fondest wish for you today is that you too, find your life’s path and never live with regrets.

Love and gratitude for being part of my world,

Lynda

One of the things I do on almost a daily basis is “listen” to a YouTube video from Evan Carmichael.

Do you agree? Coelho & the Heart.

I’m reading the Alchemist. First I read Eleven Minutes because a reviewer compared Lie To Me an exposé on sex for money to Coelho’s novel; then Manuscript Found in Accra and now, I’m reading The Alchemist. Of course, I underline and highlight and drive my iPad crazy… When I read Coelho, my heart fills and my soul is at peace. Here’s a copy of the official blog, posted today by Paolo Coelho.

“Why do we have to listen to our hearts?” the boy asked when they had made camp that day.

“Because, wherever your heart is, that is where you’ll find your treasure.”

“But my heart is agitated,” the boy said. “It has its dreams, it gets emotional, and it’s become passionate over a woman of the desert. It asks things of me, and it keeps me from sleeping many nights when I’m thinking about her.”

“Well, that’s good. Your heart is alive. Keep listening to what it has to say.”

“My heart is a traitor,” the boy said to the alchemist when they had paused to rest the horses. “It doesn’t want me to go on.”

“That makes sense. Naturally, it’s afraid that, in pursuing your dream, you might lose everything you’ve won.”

“Well, then, why should I listen to my heart?”

“Because you will never again be able to keep it quiet. Even if you pretend not to have heard what it tells you, it will always be there inside you, repeating to you what you’re thinking about life and about the world.”

“You mean I should listen, even if it’s treasonous?”

“Treason is a blow that comes unexpectedly. If you know your heart well, it will never be able to do that to you. Because you’ll know its dreams and wishes, and will know how to deal with them.

“My heart is afraid that it will have to suffer,” the boy told the alchemist one night as they looked up at the moonless sky.

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.”

“Every second of the search is an encounter with God,” the boy told his heart.

“Everyone on earth has a treasure that awaits him,” his heart said. “We, people’s hearts, seldom say much about those treasures, because people no longer want to go in search of them. We speak of them only to children. Later, we simply let life proceed, in its own direction, toward its own fate. But, unfortunately, very few follow the path laid out for them—the path to their destinies, and to happiness. Most people see the world as a threatening place, and, because they do, the world turns out indeed, to be threatening place.”

“So, we, their hearts, speak more and more softly. We never stop speaking out, but we begin to hope that our words won’t be heard: we don’t want people to suffer because they don’t follow their hearts.”

Cougar Bra … a poem

Screen Shot 2018-02-05 at 7.36.46 PM

it sneaks up on you

a thief, yes

a thief of dreams

a thief of life

one moment

you are young

vibrant, sexy

and life, lacking discretion

demands attention

threatens deletion

for indiscretions

of the bodily kind

without compassion

steals your passion

erases your dreams

sends visions of death

and dreams become night-mares

they shoot horses, don’t they?

with my red nail polish,

cougar bra

and strawberry suede stilettos,

I will not ride off into the sunset

take your death sentence

and shove it!

Meltdown

Spring

was never waiting for us

it went one step forward

as I longed

for our dance

I thought

you would come to me one rainy summer day

instead

you had Dragons to Slay

and orphans to love

and a God to appease

my dream

was melting in the dark

someone left my cake

out in the rain

I don’t think that I can make it

cause it took so long to bake it

and I will never have that recipe

again

still

I loved you

and then you died

Mis-Understand

I don’t try to understand your pain

nor empathize with what you gain

by making choices of denial

waiting for time to pass

all the while forgetting

how

to

live

I don’t try to understand

a choice to abstain

from love and passion

intimacy that is a God-given-gift

the closest we can ever come to

Heaven

on

Earth

I do understand

death and war

for death is a beginning

and wars are never ending

but Love is eternal

and more than that

I must agree

with the Rabbi’s message

sent to me

“the greatest of these is Love”

All I can say…

Gratitude

I’m so grateful for all of you! I released Lie To Me an exposé on sex for money, a spicy novel slightly outside my comfort zone. And you loved it! My review from Readers’ Favorite validated the work. But more important, the emails I received and notes from fans made my heart sing. It’s always about the emotion for me. If I can evoke emotion or present entertainment mixed with thought-provoking content, I’ve delivered what I set out to do.

I love your constant support. YOU inspire me to continue on this amazing journey. So let me bring you up to date on what I’m working on. I’m writing the next in the series JET 5! No title yet but it will be exciting! When I write JET, I get lost in her process and her life. This is by far my most entertaining spy/action/suspense work to date and I have Russell Blake to thank for inviting me to write into his world!

I’m also working on something very close to my heart. But at the moment, I can’t share. Why? I’m uncertain how to present the life of my friend a Navy SEAL. Will I novelize it? Or will it be a memoir? Not sure yet. But I will keep you posted. There is no doubt in my mind that you will want to read it.

I also have Book 3 “in the Sun” series per/co/lat/ing… Mia’s alone as you know from VANISHED in the SUN. Carlos has been pulled back in… I can’t say more or I might spoil the series for you. And Mia finds herself on the run… Yes, exciting, thrilling and edgy because that’s how that girl rolls!

So I share with you today a wonderful visual. Take a need. I choose Courage and mix it up with Beauty and Passion while I plot my way through JET’s life. Her dedication to Hannah is the essence of all motherhood. And in her determination to keep her young daughter safe, she fights cartels, ISIS, greed, and terrorism. I believe she’s on her way to London, but shh, she doesn’t know it yet! She never disappoints.

Have an amazing holiday season! And thank you for being part of my journey.
