I hope in the end it is a LOVE STORY

A photo-diary of a Creative in Istanbul on New Years Eve

Lynda Filler

I changed my hair color three times this year. Pink, burgundy and now blue!

This shot reminds me of an old Flemish painting…. I have no idea why…

There is a sense of peace in a city (Istanbul) where the buildings have been around for centuries.

Even the nights are filled with color.

A quote on why I write. This year on Dec. 25th I published my 16th book on Amazon: The Istanbul Conspiracy.

I celebrated my 72nd birthday in Tel Aviv.

Christmas Eve (for an non-traditional girl) in Istanbul. A photoblog

One must start the day off at Starbucks, and yes, Cats are revered in Turkey, in the Islam religion, so this beauty was saying hello to everyone before she went on her independent Christmas Eve day.

I sent Santa this above message and followed it up with the one below, because last year I was in Mexico, and I didn’t want him to worry about trying to locate me in Istanbul–the city has 17 million people!

Although there are no signs of Christmas in this Muslim country, colorful lights decorate every street in this intensely lively city!

And the weather feels like spring, not winter. I don’t really need to wear my winter coat just yet!

This week my boyfriend bought me chocolates from the Spice Bazaar for absolutely no reason! Well, maybe he realized Christmas was coming and I was feeling … lonely? I knocked them off in 48 hours!!! And two days later he came over with another box of the same. He adores me and thinks I look amazing even if I’m sure I’ve put on 10 chocolate pounds in the last week.

The mosques still fascinate me. I love to listen to the call to prayer. Last night I couldn’t sleep–maybe memories of Christmas past and family that is no longer with us. So I listened to the call to prayer well before sunrise. There’s something comforting in this age-old manner of professing a love of God. It’s one of the things I find special about this culture.

My hairdresser decided it was time to change my hair color for this festive time of year, He added blue!! If he had asked me first, we both would have had to use Google Translate! I laughed out loud when I saw it. It’s absolutely perfect for me.

And to top off my evening–because soup alone does not cut it on Christmas Eve–I had a lovely glass or two of Blush Shiraz from Turkey. Then I chatted online with people I love from all around the world.

And I almost forgot!! Today I released my latest Code Raven book 7 The Istanbul Conspiracy! https://amzn.to/2PSAApg My Christmas gift to you! It’s available in download and in print.

The wedding of DJ Turk and the daughter of the Minister of Defense is about to take place on a mega-yacht on the Bosphorus in Istanbul. Hours later the much-anticipated photos show corpses lined up along the dock and a bride covered in blood.
Was this a random act of terror, a targeted assassination of the Turkish political elite, or an attack on DJ Turk who leads a double life?
Luke and Samaar of the Raven Group have their own wedding to attend but it’s called off at the last minute when they uncover a breach in their security. Instead of returning to Paris, they come to the aid of the Turk to get to the bottom of this horrific event.
The conspiracy they uncover must be prevented before the balance of power in the world is perilously reversed. Get your copy at https://amzn.to/2EQdpWf

Thank you for your support in 2019. I look forward to continuing to cause trouble, shock, and entertain you in 2020!!

How do you see the world around you?

I always find find photography to be an inspiration in my writing. I use places and people that I meet along my way to create characters and locations for my stories. My walk in Istanbul yesterday morning and the tram ride to Sultanahmet Square in the afternoon, are great examples.

I’m currently working on Code Raven 7 which features Turkey and the Middle East. One of my key characters in this book is a DJ named EM+EM. He’s currently on the trail of terrorists after a horrific event during his wedding the night before. He is taking a jog from Kariköy to the Blue Mosque and these are photos of things he would see during his run.

I hope you enjoyed a slice of my life. If you wish to see more, please join me on Lynda Filler Author and/or Lynda Filler Creates on Instagram

Code Raven 7 is untitled but will be out late fall. In the meantime, don’t miss the fun! LYNDA FILLER AMAZON Code Raven Prequel it’s $.99 and gives you the background on who is Luke Raven?

The Cool Cats of Istanbul

Istanbul cats are famous. Who knew? They are everywhere and they are beautiful.

The religion of Islam teaches that animals are to be honored and cared for, but the Cat is the only one allowed to live in the home and walk into a Mosque. That doesn’t negate any other animals, it’s simply that the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) has laws for the treatment of animals and fellow man and he had cats!

I’m quite fascinated by the local cats, their beauty, their health, and their attitude. They know they rule! The community feeds the animals whether they are pets or not. I passed a cat on my street eating fresh chicken placed outside by the local butcher for the cats. Another day I encountered a lovely tabby having tinned tuna. It’s the same with the stray dogs. They are healthy and have been tagged by the city so we know they are free of disease. The dogs wander the streets; but hey are not aggressive at all. The spend their nights curled up in doorways or at the entrance of the Mosques.

When I go walking or take the millions of steps up to the top of the hill (Istanbul is a city of so many hills!) I stop to greet and chat with the cats. Even the street art pays homage to the superiority and love for the Cats of Istanbul! I thought I’d share them with you!

Do you have a favorite? I definitely lean towards the green eyes, and the Kung Fu Cat! I could go on and on, but you get that it’s a “Cats’ World” in Istanbul, Turkey!

What does it mean to be a Creative? Tel Aviv Street Walk

What do you mean by creativity?

That’s a perfect question for me because I live my life ‘creatively.’ My main creative pursuit right now is Writing, however, I’m traveling. And that’s something I cannot do without sharing how I see the world around me. Everything inspires me. Language, people, clothing, textiles, architecture, online news stories, food. It all inspires me. I was just about to post this when your question came up (Quora), basically to show you that creativity expresses itself in many ways. There is no right or wrong, it’s all art.

I have a passion for #streetart #streetphotography and because I post to InstagramLynda Filler Creates, and FB on my fan page, I consider all that Creativity! Drop by and join in, or stalking is also acceptable!

Tel Aviv, Israel

Exciting and Overwhelming!

I’ve still not recovered from my trip to Miami! I don’t know what I expected. The event started in the hotel lobby bar (don’t most amazing relationships) when Mark Wayne Adams, the famous illustrator, told me to get ready for one of the most incredible experiences of my lifetime.

The sheer amount of talent in one room was both exhilarating and awe-inspiring! The Readers’ Favorite Awards outdid themselves in pulling together some of the most talented authors in the world. I absorbed every single word, learned many new aspects of the industry from Marketers, Agents, Publicists, and Print Houses. Overall, all my fellow authors inspired me to work harder, to hone my skills, to become a better writer for my fans.

a Lie to Me novel

Layla wakes up one morning to an empty bed in steamy Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
She drowns herself in wine, espresso, and pot but nothing seems to dull the ache of losing Mateo. A change of scenery in the trendy city of Guadalajara might be the answer.

Insert Pablo, a hot young fashion photographer.
Add forty-something writer Layla, her pink stilettos and her insatiable appetite for hot young men.
Complicate things with Omar, a musician, and a one-night-stand.
Enter Mish a University student who is relegated to the friend zone in Layla’s life. But will he stay there?
Then invite the cartel boss’ son to a private opening of the fashion photographer Pablo’s latest erotic exhibit.
A bomb goes off, and the action goes into overdrive.

If you love sexual-tension, and a complex series of titillating and exciting twists and turns, you will want to read Shoot Me.

Who is That Child

baby-84639_1920

who is that child

by your side

who is that child

is he the one I always wanted

is he the love part of you living on

born of another

         your love child

I want to know your son

I want to hold him close

I want to see how you would be

un-jaded

         un-afraid

         un-aware

before life got in the way

and made you say

that love

doesn’t exist

I miss you

I miss watching you breathe

the way you slept

your naked body, your damaged soul,

your tenderness when you forgot to hide the smile

that once made me whole

                   that look

the words you could never find

the love that poured from your eyes

straight into my shattered heart

who is that child

that walks like you

may I hold his tiny fingers in my hand?
