What you do have control over is how you re-act to whatever happens in your life.

What we all become is exactly what we believe we can.

My confidence comes from knowing there is something greater than myself that I am a part of and also is a part of me.

How I think one masters one’s life is understanding that you are  co-creating that life with the ultimate Creator. You cannot survive in this world just believing in yourself. You are not big enough to do it.

The fact that you are here, matters.

This is no accident. None of us are…

Every single thing that has happened in your life is preparing you for the moment that is to come.

Does Happily Ever After Exist?

It’s been a while since I worked on a novel. I have four storylines that are competing for my attention, and I can’t seem to focus in on one over the other. So I get my dose of daily writing when I hang out on Quora for a bit. I thought you might enjoy my answer to a rather shallow question. It might be TMI, but then, those of you who know me understand that I’m an open book, a work in progress, and a constantly evolving woman.

This month I’m packing up my life. I’ve sold everything and will begin a journey to places I’ve never been. I have a set departure and a few locations in France, India, Turkey, and Israel that are booked. But once I arrive in Bangkok, I will be free-falling… I have no set date of return to Mexico, although my friends who’ve become a family, believe I will return. I’m not sure.

This is going to be an interesting time. I will blog, post photos here and on IG, FB, Twitter. And I’ll do live videos on FB and my YouTube channel. I promise it will be fun, and a bit crazy. I see the world in strange and wondrous ways.

Back to Quora and the question I couldn’t resist answering: Am I shallow to want to date a woman with a fuller figure?

We all have our preferences. Some of us take a lifetime to truly understand what we like. I’m attracted to eyes. They mirror not only the soul but kindness and mischief. When a man looks at me with ‘those eyes’ I’m in trouble! And a very good kind of trouble it is!

So first it’s eyes, then it’s soul, then it’s brains—I love smart men. They’re usually cocky and annoying and can make you feel inadequate in a way that’s rather adorable. They are adult men with this immense sense of wonder about the subjects that fascinate them. And even though the subjects may be way out of reach for me, I’m wildly attracted to the light, that almost childish sense of wonder as they work through their discoveries, day after day.

And then there is sexy. That comes in all shapes and sizes but I definitely have a type in that area too. I won’t reveal myself because then I’d be at a disadvantage. I get a reaction, an immediate jolt when I find someone attractive. It’s generally mutual. If it’s not, I ignore the feelings and move on.

Am I shallow? Yes. In some ways that I won’t go into here. I have definite physical things that work for me and I haven’t met anyone yet who doesn’t fit into my likes. Maybe I will one day…

I’m still looking for ‘the one’ who makes my heart sing, speaks to my soul, who will love me and show me that happily ever after truly exists.

“I’m not a body with a soul…”

I’m not a body with a soul, I’m a soul that has a visible part called the body.” Paulo Coelho

Have you ever stood above yourself and gazed down and watched your body doing something mundane?

Have you ever been in the midst of a crowd of talking, laughing, with excited people and found yourself all alone?

Have you ever been told you’re dying?

Have you ever been in the middle of a conversation and forgotten completely what you were saying?

You’re having an out of body experience. You’re a soul, not truly present, with a body that’s a stand-in during that split second in time.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where the correct response, at that moment, is violence, anger, frustration, maybe harsh words, and yet…something in you makes you immediately turn around and walk away?

The human mind and body have a tendency to react in a specific manner to specific events. This is how our bodies are wired–we respond, react. When the mind takes over, we are weighing our options. When the soul takes over, you are no longer on this plane. Instead, you are two steps outside your physical existence closer to the essence of who you could be, all the time if you only allowed your soul to speak.

I want to live in a world where everyone has become enlightened or more conscious, where everyone recognizes that inside, we are all the same.

Yes, I’m a dreamer but I love this about me.

“Really important meetings are planned by the souls…”

“Really important meetings are planned by the souls long before the bodies see each other.” Paulo Coehlo, Eleven Minutes

It’s not that I disagree with Coehlo, but, must I follow every ‘chance meeting’ that was never meant to be the one? The angst, the passion, the sadness that goes with “really important meetings,” is it really worth it?

Why do I dream? Why do I allow my heart to rule all things in my life? Will I, can I ever change?

There are two things that my heart requires in order to survive, breath and love. Unfortunately, I almost died from the one and I just can’t seem to get the second one right.

Unfortunately, Coehlo understands me too well, I’m a dreamer, a believer, a lover, a fatalist, and an incurable romantic.

I’ve been in denial for so many years. I scoffed at love, took chances, made ridiculous choices. Made decisions that sane people, curable romantics, would never make. I left my mind back there somewhere in 4th grade, and hitched my heart to my soul and let my love take the lead in all things in my life.

Am I a fool for love? Oh yeah.

But for once in my life, if there is such a thing as God, could you please let me love someone who will love me back?

Hi Lynda,

drop drop drop
drop what you have been holding
drop what you have been holding
drop the idea that you are confused
drop the idea that you are broke
drop the idea that there is any part of you that is unlovable or unnecessary
drop it
set it down
set your burden down
set down your grief
set down your aloneness
set down your your stubbornness
sit down on the side of the road
set your bundles down next to you like cats just sit there
don’t do
don’t rush
don’t have a thought
feel your heartbeat
feel the breath go in and out of you
feel how you are supported in this very moment
there is nothing you need that you don’t have in this very moment
there is nothing that is not possible for you
don’t do
don’t rush
stop thinking
be…
be on the side of the road
set your burdens down
maybe there’s some more that have popped up
take them off of you
you can pick them back up later
just set them down for now
set down your identity
set down your desire to be liked
set down the frantic need to be approved of
set down the idea that there is any lack or absence or shortage of anything anywhere

feel your heart beat feel your breath
feel the air on your skin
feel gravity
become aware again of the net
feel yourself as part an inextricable and critical part of this whole
stop fighting
we love you and you’re doing great
let your hands be loose
stay don’t wander
stay don’t rush to answers
stay in this moment
stay in not knowing
feel the forgiveness for not knowing
it’s like a rain comes down and washes the dust off of you
you are warm and safe
you are needed and loved
you are perfect whole and complete
there is nothing wrong with you
and your ego will fight that
do you see it throwing its little tantrum
you say “I love you ego, you are loved and you’re doing great”
so together we gather in this circle
sitting down by the side of the road
with our burdens and our stories and our excuses
the same 57 negative thoughts
that we have been thinking since we were twelve
we have set aside for now

you seek transformation
you are in the place of transformation
you seek a new life
you are in the place of a new life
you can relax
you’ve made it
congratulations you found it
you can stay like this
this is the real world
this is the real world

Coelho…The Soul, Our Dreams

Screen Shot 2018-02-04 at 9.02.11 PM

I know, I obsess.

But more from Manuscript Found in Accra, Paolo Coelho

“Our soul is governed by four invisible forces: love, death, power, and time.

When you are going through difficult times, remember: you might have lost some major battles, but you survived and you’re still here. That is a victory. Show your happiness and celebrate your ability to go forward. Pour your love generously out onto the fields and pastures, down the streets of the big city and across the dunes of the desert. Show that you care about the poor, for they are an opportunity for you to display the virtue of charity. And care, too, about the rich, who distrust everything and everyone, keeping their granaries crammed with grain and their coffers full, but who, despite that, cannot drive away loneliness. Never miss an opportunity to show your love, especially to those close to you, because we are always at our most cautious with them for fear of being hurt.

Love–because you will be the first to benefit. The world around you will reward you, even if, at first, you say to yourself: “They don’t understand my love.” Love does not need to be understood. It needs only to be shown. Therefore, what the future holds for you depends entirely on your capacity for love. And for that, you must have absolute and total confidence in what you are doing. Don’t let others say: “That road is better.” or “That route is easier.” The greatest gift God gave us is the power to make decisions. We were all told from childhood that what we wanted to do was impossible. As we accumulate years we also accumulate the sand of prejudices, fears, and guilt.

Free yourself from that. Not tomorrow, not tonight, but now. As I said: many of us believe we will hurt those we love if we leave everything behind in the name of our dreams. But those who truly want the best for us want us to be happy, even if they can’t understand what we are doing, and even if, at first, they try to stop us from going ahead by means of threats, promises, and tears. The adventure of the days to come needs to be filled with romance because the world needs that; therefore, when you are mounted on your horse, feel the wind on your face and enjoy the sense of freedom. But don’t forget that you have a long journey ahead. If you surrender totally to the romance of it all, you might fail. If you don’t stop occasionally to let both you and your horse rest, your horse might die of thirst or exhaustion. Listen to the wind, but don’t forget about your horse. And precisely when everything seems to be going well and your dream is almost within your grasp, that is when you must be more alert than ever. Because when your dream is almost within your grasp, you will be assailed by terrible guilt. You will see that you are about to arrive at a place where very few have ever set foot, and you will think that you don’t deserve what life is giving you. You will forget all the obstacles you overcame, all that you suffered and sacrificed. And because of that feeling of guilt, you could unconsciously destroy everything that took you so long to build.”

How do you love?

Screen Shot 2017-09-11 at 4.38.47 PM

Let me count the ways.

sunrises and sunsets, baby smiles and baby breath, beaches and mountains, lovers, arguments and making up, flowers on my patio, orchids on my desk, a family who remind me I’m loved, children who taught me, unconditional love,

living with dying …. friends who sit with me in silence who understand when my love pain is too much, people who hurt me for my own good, people who believe in me when I can’t quite find the courage to believe in myself,

a friend who came in from the cold, friends who’ve passed on but send me ravens to guide me, Sedona and Akal, second chances to live the life I was meant to live, RB and the world he kindled, fans and friends who follow my work, those who came before me who have taught me so much, words that flow through me, stories I create, a memoir that heals hearts, a chance to share what burns inside my soul,

Mia and Carlos, an unconventional love only they can understand, protectors and warriors who’ve inspired everything I’ve ever written, Luke, Israel, Zach and David strong, powerful and soulful heroes, Lucia, Lorena, Sofia, Jet and now Rasha, and Layla women who humble us with their determination to get it right, and all those authors that came before me, their books, their gift they share with the world,

and most of all I love the Higher Power that has guided me throughout my life, pulled me back from danger, inspired me to follow my dreams and my heart, and saved me from myself more than once, and given me second chances,

and I love how I receive occasional glimpses of the lives I’ve lived before, and I love how I know that when I die this will not be the end but the beginning, that in each life I learn to love more, deeper and wider,

and my soul speaks through me and sends messages to the world, and I am blessed to still find wonder in everything that life gives me, and most of all my heart is filled with love for all with whom my soul mates.

A Love Song

“By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not…” Song of Solomon 3:1

her head upon her pillow

she reaches

her fingers touch

the silky sheets

the empty space

the sacred place

inside of her

unoccupied

waiting for him

she whispers

my beloved is mine, and I am his

come to me, mi amor

I burn for you

I give you my body

make love to my soul

a child of the Universe

wandering the world

heart-lost

soul-frought

always begging forgiveness

when there is nothing to forgive

let me hold you

wipe your tears

soothe your troubled soul

whisper sacred love-words

calm your demons

“when the mornin’ gather the rainbow,

want you to know, I’m a rainbow too

to the rescue, here I am, want you to know

just if you can, here I stand”

the sun is shining

as I move my dancing feet

I feel the love-beats

and in the depths of my soul

I dance with you
